Multiple Moves Made Real Estate A Logical Career Choice
Ken and Linda Hankins have bought and sold nine personal homes in their 32 years of marriage due to military or corporate moves. Since they have been in the position of being a client, either buying or selling, they have not forgotten how it feels to have a For Sale sign in the front yard, or to be carted to all parts of town searching for a new home, usually in a strange town, that not only meets the budget but is THE dream home. They take personal pride in helping make a smooth transition for their clients.
Ken Hankins is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserves and has held the position of Purchasing Manager for a Fortune 100 company. His integrity and negotiating skills have become a great asset for the Hankins Team. His father was a retired Marine as well, and he considers his family home to be Cherry Pt., NC, even though he moved a great deal as a child. He graduated from the University of Maryland and immediately went to Officer Candidate School at Quantico, VA. He and Linda married soon after graduation from The Basic School and have lived in FL, NC, AL, CA, SC, GA, TN, TX, NY, LA and Okinawa Japan.
Linda Spivey Hankins grew up in Crestline Park and Crestwood and attended Ramsay and Banks High Schools as well as Jacksonville State University. Their pride and joy are their two daughters, Kerri-Leigh Grady and Jamie Hankins. Kerri is married to Jody Grady, a Lt. Commander in the Navy, presently stationed in Washington, D.C. Kerri and Jody are proud parents of Rowan Gabriel who was born in June 2, 2004. Jamie is a Juvenile Probation Officer for Galveston County in Galveston, TX. Jamie is also attending night school to get her Masters in Education to pursue a teaching career.
In 2002, Ken and Linda returned to the Birmingham area (for the 3rd and last time) and settled on 5 1/2 acres in Brierfield, AL just South of Birmingham. They are members of Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church and are also the President and Vice President of the HomeOwners Association of Brierfield Estates.
Eight years ago, when their daughters left home, Ken and Linda decided to have a second family. They have 2 Yorkshire Terriers who have really helped them both with their empty nest syndrome. Colonel and Chelsea keep the home fires burning while Ken and Linda set the real estate world on fire with their recent affiliation with Keller Williams Realty, a National Company but new to Birmingham.
Most real estate agents have a slogan or a specialty to set them apart. Ken and Linda consider themselves professionals who run a business based on The Golden Rule and Integrity. They maintain that integrity is what they have that is of true value. They genuinely care about people, and try to treat each client as if that was the only client they have. They do not just stick a sign in someone's yard and then go away and forget them. They draw from their own experience of being the client, and treat everyone just like they would want to be treated.
