Now that spring is finally here and there is more light shining through the windows, many people take time to bring the sparkle back into their homes by doing a thorough spring cleaning.

As a homeowner who might be thinking about putting your home on the market, you know that it is essential to deep clean your home from top to bottom to make sure it is in "show shape." A clean home is more appealing to prospective buyers and often commands top dollar.

Most people who are looking for a home to buy are attracted to homes that are clean, in good condition and ready to move into.

So whether you are a buyer, a seller or simply a happy homeowner who is ready to enjoy a fresh, clean living space, here are some basic cleaning tips to make your home sparkle:

* Wash all windows (inside and out) with vinegar and water
* Wash all throw rugs and have your carpets professionally cleaned or rent a rug cleaner to do it yourself
* Scrub walls, painted doorways and trim with mild soap and water
* Use lemon oil, tung oil or other wood polish to moisturize and protect your home's paneling, woodwork and hardwood floors
* Scrub your tile or laminates in the bathrooms and kitchen until they shine
* Don't forget the top of the refrigerator!

This kind of thorough cleaning will take some time and effort, but the clean smell and shiny surfaces are always worth a little elbow grease!
